Backup / Restore Process for Provider Computers

Backing up
Close any open programs.
Using a USB or External HDD, backup the following folders:
- Desktop Items
- Documents
- Pictures
- Favorites (if needed)
- Downloads (if needed)
Backup the Database
1. Start Menu > SQL Management Studio
2. Connect to the local database using the standard credentials.
3. Expand the local database (HD####/Local). Right-click on HDEMR > Tasks > Backup.
4. Under Destination, Remove any existing items in the field and then select Add..
5. Navigate to the USB / Externall HDD for the selected path. Save the backup with the File Name HDEMR.bak. (The .bak is included so that the file is easier to locate later.) Click OK.
6. Click the Media Options tab to the left of the window. Check Overwrite all existing backup sets and click OK. The backup should now perform properly.
Restoring
Copy All Files (Desktop, Documents, Pictures) to their respective location on the provider's machine.
In regard to their EMR, navigate to the Start Menu and open SQL Management Studio.
Connect to the local database using the standard credentials.
Expand the local database (HD####/Local). Right-click on HDEMR > Tasks > Restore.
Under Source, select Device and click on the ... icon at the end.
Click Add when prompted to select the backup device.
Navigate to the backup device and select the backup file. Click OK to continue.
Click OK to close the next dialogue box. Click the Options tab to the left of the window. Check Overwrite the existing database (WITH REPLACE). Click OK to run the restore.
After the restore has completed, in SQL, expand the Security folder under the local database. Expand Logins and right click on the provider's profile.
Navigate to User Mapping on the tab to the left of the window. Under Users mapped to this login, select HDEMR. Under Database role membership for HDEMR, select the following:
db_datareader
db_datawriter
db_owner
Click OK.
Open the EMR and ensure that data is present. Sync the EMR and verify that syncing works.
